Following Cancer Diagnosis, Biden Reportedly Considering Suspension Of 2028 Campaign
In a public statement given by his office this Sunday, it was announced that former President Joe Biden has an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
Due to his age and rapidly deteriorating cognitive ability, he is considered to be the front-runner for the 2028 Democratic Party nominee for president amongst DNC insiders. However, some DNC insiders are unsure he will be up to the job of facing whoever the Republican nominee will be, and losing.
Some Democrats have suggested that Biden replace David Hogg’s former position as DNC Vice Chairman. Hogg, 25, recently had his election to the DNC Vice Chair nullified, as other Democratic Party officials believed he was “far too coherent.” Hogg’s leadership was thought to be too likely to result in more Democratic victories in Congress, which could mean Democrats might eventually have to do something to combat Trump. With Hogg’s seat now open, it leaves the potential for an older, more geriatric candidate like Biden to take his place.
Although not all Democrats are so pessimistic. Sen Chuck Schumer believes President Biden’s diagnosis only makes him a stronger candidate:
“After receiving the tragic news today, my sympathies, and the sympathies of many Americans, go out to former President Joe Biden. Which is why I believe he must stay in the race for 2028. We can play this cancer thing and gain all kinds of sympathy votes.” Said the senator while slurping a bowl of soup.
Former Speaker of the House and Congressional Representative Nancy Pelosi agrees with Schumer’s sentiment:
“82 years of age is nothing to shy away from. That kind of maturity comes with a level of wisdom and experience that no candidate can match. Cancer is something that affects many Americans, and now those Americans can more easily relate to Biden as a presidential candidate. I think if anything, this diagnosis will allow him to better speak to middle America.”
Whether Biden will suspend his 2028 campaign is yet to be officially announced. However, behind open doors that he forgot to close, Biden is reportedly considering the option. An anonymous source close to Biden relayed that “He believes it’s still 2018, and he really wants to oust Trump in the next election, but following the recent diagnosis, he’s open to the idea of a younger candidate taking the nomination.”
The news of Biden’s diagnosis has spread far and wide, as politicians and celebrities from all over the world have offered their condolences.
President Trump has given a public statement wishing Biden a speedy recovery and stated on Truth Social:
“From now on, I will be having my asshole triple checked for disease.”
Perhaps no one has taken the news harder than the people of Gaza, who’ve taken the time out of their busy schedules of dodging aerial bombardment to start a GoFundMe for President Biden’s recovery.
