Right out of the rubble of war-torn Gaza, you can now purchase this one of a kind collectors' item!
Can you believe it’s been almost a year since Nikki Haley signed her now famous artillery shell to be used by Israel in their bombardment of Gaza? For months, people have been clamoring, “When can I get my hands on that missile?” Well, now you can.
The limited edition Nikki Haley-signed bomb is now up for sale on eBay. It appears luck has struck, as the IDF was able to recover the artillery shell underneath a collapsed building of rubble. That’s right, when you purchase this missile, you’re not just getting the physical bomb, but the bomb’s priceless intangible story.
The bomb was dropped, alongside nine other bombs, on an apartment building in Khan Yunis after the IDF received a potentially credible rumour that a 3-year-old occupant of the building was an Hamas operative.
The bomb was extracted from a large pile of bodies and rubble, which has left some residue of mortar, concrete, and blood on the exterior of the shell. This is reflected in the photo of the bomb, as well as the “Used” condition in the listing. While some might see the residue as a flaw, others say it gives the bomb a “lived-in” or vintage feel, and believe it should remain in its current condition rather than being renovated.
After the bomb’s retrieval, it was repossessed by the Israeli government. There were a few proposals on what to do with the bomb before the Israelis decided to list it on eBay.
It was first proposed that the bomb be refitted with a new explosive head for reuse, which would be part of a pro-recycling campaign. However, historians pointed out its value as an artifact and believed it might be too risky to run the artillery shell through another bombardment. It was then proposed that the bomb be held in reserve to be displayed in a future museum which is planned to be built in Rafah by the Israeli government, after the war.
However, it was then decided by Israeli officials that the best course of action would be to give the bomb back to the Americans to show gratitude and the bolstering of the Israeli-American alliance. The bomb was listed on eBay for $2,999.99 (free shipping included), to be purchased within the United States. The Israeli government wishes to express that although the listing states “$2,999.99 or best offer," they are unwilling to go below $2500.
